I bet you’ve got lots and lots of questions around your Wedding Invitations (how many do I need? what are those ‘insert things’ I need? how much do they cost? when should I order them?) and if you haven’t – trust me they’ll soon come… So today, I’ll be answering the question “When should I order my Wedding Invitations?”
So what you’ll need to do first is decide on whether you are going for ready-to-order wedding invitations (i.e. pre-designed and ready to go) OR whether you’ll go for Bespoke Wedding Invitations aka custom, couture or personalised (i.e. invitations that are custom designed especially for you).
To be fair, the answer to this question will be based largely on your budget as naturally, anything custom will cost more. (So you’ll need to have a rough idea of your Invitation budget).
Then you need to determine the date that you need your Invitations to be sent out by…
[SIDE NOTE] – AIM TO SEND OUT YOUR WEDDING INVITATIONS 6-8 WEEKS PRIOR TO YOUR WEDDING DAY OR 10-12 WEEKS IF 1. YOU HAVEN’T SENT OUT SAVE THE DATES 2. YOUR WEDDING FALLS ON A SPECIAL DATE SUCH AS VALENTINE’S DAY OR NEW YEAR’S EVE AND 3. IF YOU ARE HOSTING A WEDDING WEEKEND…
IF YOU’RE GETTING MARRIED ABROAD AIM TO SEND SAVE THE DATES OUT 12 MONTHS IN ADVANCE AND YOUR WEDDING INVITATIONS 6-9 MONTHS IN ADVANCE.
So now that you know whether or not you’re going for ready-to-order wedding invitations or custom wedding invitations and you have a date for when you need them sent out… you’re now ready to start looking for and contacting invitation designers and honestly THE BEST way to know when to order your wedding invitations is to simply ask your favourite 3 companies what their timelines are (as this is bound to be different for each company).
You want a specific answer to the question – “I’m interested in your ready-to-order wedding invitations, I’ll need to have them in my hands ready for me to address (allowing a week for this) and send out by [Day|Month|Year] when would I need to order them by?”
“I’m interested in your custom stationery designs, I’ll need to have them in my hands ready for me to address (allowing a week for this) and send out by [Day|Month|Year] when would I need to start the design process with you?”
